The Shine Awards is a campaign run by The Weekly Times, Australia's leading rural newspaper.
It was launched in 2017, with support from Herald and Weekly Times chairman Penny Fowler and Harvey Norman chief executive Katie Page.
Every year, for three months from August to October, readers are encouraged to nominate rural women who make a real difference to their community or industry.
Shine nominees’ stories feature in The Weekly Times and The Australian with a dedicated print, digital and social media marketing campaign. From stories of nominees published over the past 12 months, our editorial team chooses a shortlist, and from those inspiring nominees, finalists and winners are picked by a judging panel (including representatives from The Weekly Times, The Australian, News Corp and Harvey Norman).
